Take our EV Assist+ survey, win £300!

EV Assist+ is a first-of-a-kind, ‘travel assistant’ service that aims to give disabled EV drivers the confidence to travel independently.

The EV Assist+ service has been designed with accessibility in mind. It addresses several key barriers currently restricting the use of public charge points by disabled drivers, namely the complexity of integrated journey planning, and the identification and booking of en-route assistance services.

The EV Assist+ concept, as a technical innovation and a commercial proposition, was recently validated by means of a 12-week feasibility study, delivered in partnership with the Scottish Enterprise and Transport Scotland, East Lothian Council, Goss Consultancy Ltd, and a number of leading regional EV stakeholders.

1. Plan your trip here:

EV Assist+ trials are taking place currently, and include a pan-disabled panel of EV users. The survey is however open to anyone who wishes to participate. If you would like to participate, you must submit your response by the 10th of March. Simply enter your email address at the end of the survey to be entered into the EV Assist+ prize draw to win £300!

2. Complete the survey here:

The survey focuses on the following topics:

  • EV user journey experience for people with accessibility needs
  • Disabled EV user planning time
  • Disabled EV user willingness to change route if a charge point becomes unavailable en-route
  • Disabled EV user willingness to travel by EV (on long distance destination-based trips)
  • Utilisation rates of the charge point network
  • Chargepoint accessibility
  • Chargepoint availability
  • Non-EV user willingness to buy/lease an EV
  • Return on investment for EV charge point operators adopting the EV Assist+ system if proven that disabled EV users are more willing to undertake an EV journey with the additional information provided by the tool.

The survey prize draw offer expires on 10 March 2022. For more information on GDPR-compliance and how your data will be processed please refer to: /terms/

Unlock Coventry’s hidden secrets with next-generation wayfinding

Ģýý.’ is launching Urban Tourism 5.0 – adding interactive content to our online travel planning platform, designed to incentivise people to plan their trip ahead of attending venues and events. Click this link to check out the service and complete a short surrey in return for a Costa Coffee voucher.

Content-Enhanced Wayfinding

Urban Tourism 5.0 delivers content-enhanced wayfinding using rich media and augmented reality hotspots. The interactive experiences can be launched directly from the Ģýý.’ platform by clicking on the camera icon, which indicates a content hotspot.

Hotspots include cultural information, fun facts, images of places to visit and points of interest. The majority of the content can be accessed from anywhere, whilst planning a trip or en-route, but, specially commissioned augmented reality experiences are ‘geofenced’, meaning you have to be at a specific location to unlock them. Think Pokémon meets Lonely Planet!

The team behind the innovation, part-funded by the UK’s first region-wide 5G testbed,  (WM5G), is ‘Ģý.’ (YST), creative and cultural storytellers, , geo-content distribution platform, , and digital media arts collective, . Urban Tourism 5.0 is expected to encourage people to plan trips to venues and events by enhancing visitors’ experiences with exclusive content and tailored wayfinding, not available on other platforms.

“It helps us promote active and sustainable travel choices”, explains Ģýý.’ CEO, Chris Thompson, “by making the whole experience of out-of-home entertainment as much about the trip as the final destination, adding excitement en-route and delivering a fantastic sense of arrival.”

The bi-product of this enhanced interaction is additional visitor information, that venues, events, transport operators and regional authorities can use to improve service delivery, and to monitor, influence and mitigate visitor travel impact of the environment.

The Urban Tourism 5.0 survey results will help inform plans to add interactive content for major global venues and events, concerts and festivals, including more augmented reality experiences, curated soundtracks and even short-form documentaries.

Complete our survey, win a £50 voucher!

To express our gratitude for completing the EV Assist survey, you will enter a prize draw for a £50.00 Amazon Gift Voucher.

Your feedback is really important to us!

About EV Assist

EV Assist is a project funded by Innovate UK to accelerate the UK’s transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs). The project aims to support this acceleration by targeting known barriers to EV adoption and use across two key groups:

  • EV users: range anxiety, charge-point awareness (particularly on long-distance, destination-based trips), ChargePoint availability / bookability, multi-modal travel options
  • ChargePoint operators: maximising ChargePoint utilisation, maximising strategic ChargePoint rollouts based on insights into aggregated EV user journey plans.

The service is being developed and led by us at ‘Ģý.’ and will be a web-based application that includes:

  1. ChargePoint reservations system for enabling EV users to reserve a specific charger for a specific time period
  2. A next generatipon travel planner for enabling EV users to plan routes to destination-based and en-route chargepoints
  3. Charging demand forecasts providing ChargePoint operators with insights into aggregated geo-temporal charging demand
  4. ‘Consent matrix’ technology enabling GDPR-compliant sharing of customer data between service providers.

For more information on GDPR-compliance and how your data will be processed please refer to: /terms/

2022 Trials

A trial of the software is planned for January 2022 and will help us to collect data around the following:

  • EV user journey experience
  • EV user planning time
  • EV user willingness to change route
  • EV user willingness to travel by EV (on long distance destination-based trips)
  • Utilisation rates of the charge point network
  • Charge point availability
  • Non-EV user willingness to buy/lease an EV
  • Return on investment for Charge Point Operators adopting the EV Assist system
  • The commercial value of the demand forecast data asset for CPOs

‘Ģý.’ travel planning will work across the region, whilst the reservation feature will initially be piloted on 5 rapid charge points operated by ESB in Coventry.

About You Smart Thing

Project partner, Ģýý.’, is an online travel assistant service that guides people to destinations the smart way; personalised, accessible and sustainable.
